Here’s a two-month study plan for the SAT, perfect for those gearing up for the August SAT and studying over the summer.
Understanding the Digital SAT
The SAT consists of two main sections: Math and English, each scored out of 800. Both sections have two modules, and the test is adaptive. After the first module, the test evaluates your performance and adjusts the difficulty of the second module accordingly. Scoring well on the first module is crucial for aiming above 1200 on the SAT.
Week-by-Week SAT Study Plan
Week 1: Diagnostic Test and Review
Start by taking a diagnostic test to gauge your current standing. Use platforms like the Blue Book or our SAT testing app. This initial test will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. If you score below 1200, you likely moved to the easier second module; a score above 1200 means you faced the harder module.

Weeks 2-4: Building Foundations and Strategies
- Week 2: Study essential concepts and strategies. Focus on grammar rules, math formulas, and test-taking strategies. Resources include online content, YouTube videos, and SAT prep books (check out our strategy-based book under $30).
- Week 3: Focus on weak areas in Math. Review your diagnostic test mistakes, practice similar problems, and solidify your understanding of fundamental math concepts.
- Week 4: Shift your focus to English. Apply the same strategy as week 3, reviewing errors and practicing relevant problems. Take another diagnostic test at the end of the week to track your progress.
Weeks 5-8: Intensive Practice and Testing
- Weeks 5-6: Continue alternating between Math and English, honing in on weaker areas. Incorporate frequent diagnostic tests—ideally one per week—to monitor improvement and adjust your study plan accordingly.
- Weeks 7-8: Intensify your practice by taking full-length practice tests every week. By the end of this period, you should have completed at least four to five practice SATs, building familiarity with the test’s format and timing.
Test Day Tips
- Rest Well: Ensure you get a good night’s sleep before the test day to avoid burnout.
- Be Prepared: Bring all necessary documentation, including your ID and registration confirmation.
- Stay Nourished: Pack snacks and water to keep your energy levels up during the test.
- Stay Calm and Confident: Use your preparation as a confidence booster. Trust that your hard work has prepared you for this moment.
