What to Expect At Your Complimentary SAT / ACT Consultation
Personalized Guidance For Your Teen’s Success
As parents, we want to see our children succeed, but navigating SAT/ACT prep can feel overwhelming. It’s natural to worry or feel unsure about how to help without adding pressure. The good news is that Curvebreakers can guide you, allowing you to be able to provide your child with meaningful support.
One of the best ways we’ve found to support students—and their parents—is by making test prep a consultative process. Every family is welcome to meet with Nick before beginning their test prep to discuss questions, concerns, and the student’s goals.
To help alleviate stress, Nick offers realistic goal-setting and provides families with a manageable, step-by-step tailored plan for their students’ needs.
What To Bring With You
Diagnostic Score Reports: If your student took their diagnostic practice tests with Curvebreakers, we will have all of your reporting data. If your student took the PSAT, an official exam, or a practice test elsewhere, please bring scores and any diagnostic score reports with you.
What if your student hasn’t yet sat for any full-length SAT or ACT practice tests?
You’ll definitely get more out of the consultation if your student has baseline test scores. This will help select the exam best suited for your student and establish what score increase is needed to achieve your goals. Families are still welcome to sit for a consultation without any practice test scores. Nick may recommend another consultation after diagnostic scores are established.
Cumulative GPA: It’s helpful to have an idea of your cumulative GPA when discussing your goals for which colleges you’d like to attend.
A Rough List of Colleges / Universities: Nick will discuss score requirements and other important information related to academics and admissions.
When & Where Are Consultations Offered?
One parent is required to attend a consultation, and the student is highly encouraged to attend also. This is why most consultations take place on weekdays after 7 PM or on Saturdays. To see Nick LaPoma's current availability, view the online scheduling tool.
Consultations can take place in Curvebreakers' office, which is located at 310 Old Country Road, Suite 101 in Garden City. Families also have the option to meet on Zoom or by phone.
